What About the Rest of the Population?

I'm young, but I have been exploring fashion for a while; however, I see quite a bias. Most models are beginning to look exactly alike to me. Light skinned and brown or blond haired. I'm not saying that this is a bad look, but I really feel left out. I'm African American, but I look almost biracial. My hair is wavy, my lips aren't exactly thin, and I have high cheekbones. I have never seen a model  that looks even remotely similar to me, and I'm sure that there are a lot of girls that feel this way as well. Black, Hispanic, Asian, it does not matter, there are not many girls that represent other races on the runway. Every race is beautiful, but I'mfeeling as if the fashion industry is not representing this. H&M came out with some ads that show different races, and I was extremely excited. Then, I realized that I shouldn't have been this excited-this should be an everyday occurrence. I began thinking about why this couldn't be an everyday occurrence. Why couldn't models of ALL races be used for high fashion shows and ads? White, Black, Asian, Hispanic...all races should be included. We are in the 21st century for crying out loud! I feel like I'm being robbed of possible role models.

Project Runway: An Amalgamation of Sorts

It's been a while since I've posted, so this post is going to be somewhat long since I've been getting material for a while. I realize that I haven't really said anything about recent fashion shows (besides Alexander McQueen may he rest in peace), so I'm going to show you some of my favorite looks.
P.S. Comment if you would like for me to do an outfit post, as I haven't posted one in quite a while.

Erdem Resort 2010
The cut of the dress and the pattern are adorably retro :)

Those last two are from Miu Miu's Spring 2011 collection. For the dress in the first picture, I would suggest different styling. I'd make the bob a little more streamlined and modern to offset the dress' vintage cut. For the dress in the second picture, I wouldn't really do anything different. Keep up the good work Miuccia :)
I really like these light colors for spring. Quite romantic.
Michael Kors' pre-fall nautical niceties :) I love his color choices
Those last two are from Temperley London's pre-fall collection, inspired by Spanish matadors.
Rag & Bone's pre-fall looks are definately some of my favorites
Celine's spring 2011 runway featured many, many jumpsuits, a very easy and great look for spring.

Otherworldly

Alexander McQueen's Summer 2011 line looks like something out of a fairytale, a nod to its late namesake designer, with a modern twist.

Zara's November Lookbook

For gorgeous silhouettes with boyish hints I look to Zara's November lookbook. There are some very odd yet gorgeous pieces that I absolutely love and that are stunning for fall.

My Fall Style Icon

You might find me somewhat cliche, my dear readers; however, I'm going for a romantic look for fall. All things classic and refined seem to be my inspiration, and I'm embracing it.
My school requires uniforms, and I love the way Blair Waldorf styles hers.
