Hair Raising

I heard the most unfortunate comment today from a beautiful biracial girl. Now, this girl has a gorgeous curly mane that she's been taming into submission with keratin treatments, and has berated her hair's natural texture for quite some time now. Today, I heard her remark "Ugh, I've got Black people hair today!" I swear I felt this blow me to my core. For someone who has been working for the past year to grow out my permed ends and embrace my natural texture, this really hurt. I started wondering "Why is Black hair so bad?" and "Should I stop trying?" Well, I've come to a conclusion, and that conclusion is no. Black, White, Asian, Middle Eastern, Indian, Native American, ALL hair is beautiful. I'm not bashing those that straighten or perm, as I think that how you want to wear your hair is your business; however, to bash your natural texture is something that I think is truly unfortunate. Especially to bash it using a racial remark so as to make that race's hair seem less beautiful is wrong. To all those out there who have struggled with this, your hair is beautiful! Everyone has beautiful hair and can have beautiful hair as long as you take care of it well. That's what makes a truly beautiful head of hair. If you treat your hair with love, it will love you back.

My Fall Staple...

Slouchy sweaters! I love how versatile these can be, going with anything from jeans to skirts to dresses, but I've got to say that my favorite way, hands down, is with a bodycon skirt. I love layering, especially since temperatures can change so much over the day where I live.

Model Monday: Anais Mali

French model Anais Mali has walked shows for Betsey Johnson, Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Carolina Herrera, Vivienne Westwood, and more. You may also recognize her from the Levi's campaign or J. Crew catalogue she's also featured in. Mali has been featured in VogueZinkV, and Harper's Bazaar just to name a few. I must say, Mali is one gorgeous rising star! Her face is absolutely breathtaking, and I hope to see more of her soon.

NYFW Street Style!

More interesting to me than the designs (I'll look at those lovelies later) this fashion week have been the styles of those attending. The beautiful women whose looks are effortlessly chic are quite an inspiration, and you my lovely readers will find them quite inspiring too.

Hair Raising, Part 1

Sorry my dear readers! I've been awful with the upkeep of this blog as of late; however, I'm doing my very best to fix that. I've finally got some downtime and wanted to share with you my most recent obsession, my hair. When I was young I had very long, thick hair, which I took for granted; however, as I've gotten older and gone through quite a few damaging (and traumatic) experiences, I've been left with hair that falls about an inch past my shoulder and seems to not want to grow any more. I've got very curly hair, the toughest type to grow out, but I'm going to do my best!
My rather messy, too short hair in a boring style for school

I've recently gotten my ends trimmed, and am ready to start my hair growth journey. First off, products I'll be using:
  1. Organix Renewing Morrocan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner
  2. 100% Pure Jojoba Oil (to moisturize and keep ends and scalp healthy)
  3. Garnier Fructis Curl Sculpting Cream Gel (I don't use much of this, as to not clog any follicles)
Tips, tricks, and other things I'll be trying will be shared, so stay tuned.

Fall Staples

Fall and winter are the best seasons for fashion. The faux-furs, jackets, scarves, bags, and color pallets with their rusts, sepias, and nudes make me swoon with delight, and there are a few items that I cannot wait to wear and outfits I cannot wait to put into my closet.
