K Is For Knowledge

I've thought about this particular post for quite a while, but nothing seemed right. So I decided to just let it come to me when the mood struck. This is going to be a list of things that inspire me and that I know for sure. I hope it inspires you too.

I Know That...

1. ART CAN CHANGE THE WORLD. Music has been called the universal language, because it is something that anyone can get. In a world where you can talk to someone on the other side of the world with the click of a button, music can spread like a virus. It can be used as a force for good, one for inspiration and peace. I'm an amateur composer, finally starting to put down all the melodies that have been buzzing around in my head for quite a while, as well as some words. Already I've discovered some forces that have been working to change the world (more on that in later posts), and am starting to try myself. So readers, express yourself in any way that you can and see what happens.

Bob Marley

Margaret Atwood

(By the way, she is an amazing poet. Check out some of her works)

2. IF YOU DON'T TRY YOU'LL NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU CAN ACHIEVE. My very best friend has been telling me this a lot lately, because she knows that I love music. Ever since I was little I've been singing into hairbrushes, on top of my bed or toybox, to an audience of stuffed animals or just my mirror. As of late, she's been convincing me to try out for American Idol. Now, I never watch this show, but I know that it consists of trying out in front of a panel of judges, and that terrifies me; however, auditions are this month. Wish me luck. So readers, if there is anything in your life right now that can have a positive outcome and you are scared to try, do it! You never know what will happen. (And I will tell you if I can get transportation to the auditions and what happens if I do)

3. BEING YOURSELF NO MATTER WHAT WILL BRING GREAT THINGS. No matter what you do or what your passion is, being yourself truly opens people's eyes. You stand out and give a lasting impression. If you need an example, look up Of Montreal, Janelle Monae, and other artists. Stick to what is you, readers, and I promise that you will be happy with the results.
